Strengthening capacities of World Heritage Professionals in the Arab region for Cultural and Mixed sites
In the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between ICOMOS International and the Arab Regional Center for World Heritage (ARC-WH), a workshop aimed to train experts from the Arab Region on World Heritage matters has been organized by ARC-WH in collaboration with ICOMOS and in partnership with IUCN and ICCROM in Manama from 9 to 13 December 2018.
ICOMOS had the pleasure of participating in the celebration of the 70th anniversary of IUCN’s founding in Fontainebleau, France on 30 and 31 August. The conference entitled “The future of landscapes: a new relationship for people and nature” focused on the future of cultural landscapes, including the places that have been created through agricultural, pastoralist and sacred use.

ICOMOS Side Event "Sites of Memory"
During the 42nd World Heritage Committee Meeting that is being held in Bahrain, ICOMOS, with the support of UNESCO’s World Heritage Centre, has organized the side event “Sites of Memory” on Wednesday 27 June 2018.
From 20 to 26 November 2017, the ICOMOS World Heritage Panel met at ICOMOS International Secretariat, Charenton-le-Pont, in order to discuss 23 cultural and mixed properties nominated for inscription on the World Heritage List in 2018. This year, nominations included three proposals to extend existing WH properties.
