Michael Petzet, late Honorary President of ICOMOS who passed away last year on 29 May, is celebrated by his friends and colleagues through a memorial book published by ICOMOS Germany on 18 April.

Every year, on the occasion of the International Day for Monuments and Sites, ICOMOS proposes a theme for the celebrations and activities to be organised by our Committees, members and partners.

Now, more than ever, the theme of Shared Cultures, Shared Heritage, Shared Responsibility is important as an expression of our global unity in the face of the ongoing worldwide health crisis.

This year, the theme for the International Day for Monuments and Sites on 18 April is Shared Cultures, Shared Heritage, Shared Responsibility. You will find below a map showing some of the events organised for this event, including some events accessible online. Please note that, due to the current global outbreak of Covid-19, some of the events listed may have been cancelled, postponed or converted into an online event (eg. a webinar). Dear members and friends of ICOMOS

The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting an ever growing number of countries and having a profound impact on our lives for a presently unforeseeable period of time. Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our members, friends, and all parts of the extended ICOMOS family. ICOMOS expresses its solidarity with all those who are on the front-line fighting to contain this outbreak, care for its victims, and maintain civic life, and those who have already been directly affected in their wellbeing or have lost loved ones.

Please find below the second Coronavirus COVID-19 Statement concerning the planned GA2020 in Sydney, this October. Following a decision by Australia ICOMOS in May regarding the event in Sydney, the ICOMOS Board and International Secretariat will propose the most appropriate solution to ensure that ICOMOS maintains its statutory obligations under French law and obligations to our membership.
