The team at Our Common Diginity and Icomos-Brasil are looking forward to offering a week-long workshop on Human Rights and Heritage Management 9-13 November 2020,  where we will focus on what can be considered the two most difficult aspects of human rights theory: (1) how do we understand "culture" and (2) how can we deal with the fact that some rights are group-based or collective and others are individual? How can we balance conflicts between the rights of different communities?

ICOMOS Estonia and Estonian Academy of Arts hosted on 2-5 September 2020 in Tallinn and in the web the "Our Common Dignity" working group training course "Heritage Communities and Human Rights". Training course was held together with IUCN and ICCROM.

Interpret Europe – European Association for Heritage Interpretation organized an International Web Conference “Fostering Heritage Communities” in 8.-11.05.2020. A workshop on Rights-Based Approaches was provided by Ave Paulus and Riin Alatalu from ICOMOS Estonia. The presentation on the principles of the RBA and the importance of empowering the communities and respect for locals was complimented by several videos and received lively feedback from the experts working with the interpretation of the sites for the visitors. Numerous human rights mechanisms have already raised their voices to warn about the impact of the pandemic on human rights and to provide guidance about the human rights issues to keep in mind when taking measures to counter it.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has given international organisations, including ICOMOS, the opportunity to share reflections on protecting human rights during and after COVID-19.
