ICOMOS welcomes the G20 Culture Ministers Final Declaration
The ICOMOS President, Ms Teresa Patrício attended the meeting of G20 Culture Ministers in Rome on July 29 and 30 July 2021. Her intervention focussed on ensuring that culture and heritage are counted in when tackling climate change – as they are both at risk from its impacts and part of the solution.

ICOMOS Announces Support for new World Heritage Climate Change Policy
Compelled by the increasing severity and urgency of the threats posed by climate change to World Heritage properties across the globe, ICOMOS announces its support for a new draft “Policy Document on Climate Action for World Heritage.” The new draft is intended to update the World Heritage Committee’s current climate change policy, which dates to 2007.
Opening of the Extended 44th Session of the World Heritage Committee
On 16 July 2021, the Extended 44th session of the World Heritage Committee begins in Fuzhou, China.
The World Heritage Committee session will take place virtually from 16 to 31 July 2021 on the dedicated website. Some members of the ICOMOS delegation are participating online from the ICOMOS International Secretariat in Paris.
The International Criminal Court publishes the Policy on Cultural Heritage
The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) on 14 June officially published the Policy on Cultural Heritage of the Office of the Prosecutor in an effort to act decisively to protect cultural heritage in times of war and conflict and mindful that wilful attacks on cultural heritage are a pervasive feature of conflict.
