The World Heritage Convention has made available three publications: the "Managing Cultural World Heritage" reference manual; the new database, "State of Conservation of World Heritage properties"; and "Celebrating 40 years of the World Heritage Convention", the proceedings of Closing Event of the Celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the World Heritage Convention.

The President and membership of ICOMOS, express their grave concerns over the deteriorating situation in Egypt, and condemn the looting at the Museum of Malawi in Minya and the destruction of historic religious architecture and monuments across the country.

ICOMOS, in cooperation with ICCROM and the Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums of Syria (DGAM) held a new e-learning course for the Syrian cultural heritage professionals of Idlib on 21 August 2013. The course was led by the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Risk Preparedness- ICORP and follows on from an earlier course held in Damascus in January 2013.

ICOMOS endorses the "The Hangzhou Declaration - Placing Culture at the Heart of Sustainable Development Policies" as an important guiding paper on the relationship of cultural heritage and sustainability.

One of the leading International organizations for the protection of 20th Century Cultural Heritage – the International Council on Monuments and Sites International Scientific Committee on 20^th Century Heritage (ICOMOS ISC20C),  wishes to express its concern regarding the alarming situation now facing the future of Sydney’s Darling Harbour Precinct (Darling Harbour).  Built for the 1988 Australian Bi-Centennial Celebration, Darling Harbour is currently under threat from a government plan to redevelop a large part of the area for commercial and residential development.
