The President and membership of ICOMOS, express their grave concerns over the deteriorating situation in Egypt, and condemn the looting at the Museum of Malawi in Minya and the destruction of historic religious architecture and monuments across the country.

ICOMOS, in cooperation with ICCROM and the Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums of Syria (DGAM) held a new e-learning course for the Syrian cultural heritage professionals of Idlib on 21 August 2013. The course was led by the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Risk Preparedness- ICORP and follows on from an earlier course held in Damascus in January 2013.
ICOMOS endorses the "The Hangzhou Declaration - Placing Culture at the Heart of Sustainable Development Policies" as an important guiding paper on the relationship of cultural heritage and sustainability.

One of the leading International organizations for the protection of 20th Century Cultural Heritage – the International Council on Monuments and Sites International Scientific Committee on 20th Century Heritage (ICOMOS ISC20C), wishes to express its concern regarding the alarming situation now facing the future of Sydney’s Darling Harbour Precinct (Darling Harbour). Built for the 1988 Australian Bi-Centennial Celebration, Darling Harbour is currently under threat from a government plan to redevelop a large part of the area for commercial and residential development.

ICOMOS, the International Council on Monuments and Sites, expresses its deep concern for the on-going destruction of cultural heritage in Syria, and stands with Syrian cultural heritage professionals for the protection of heritage places in the country.
The continuing conflict situation in Syria, which began in 2011, has led to an extensive humanitarian crisis and the destruction of many invaluable cultural heritage places, including World Heritage properties.
New media reports and video footage of the bombardment and damages to Crac des Chevaliers, one of Syria’s World Heritage properties, are of particular concern to ICOMOS.
ICOMOS supports the ICOMOS France alert on the impending destruction of the Novartis-Sandoz headquarters, located 14 Boulevard Richelieu, in Rueil-Malmaison, West of Paris.
