ICOMOS reasserts its commitment!

HLPF Heritage 2018 squareREICOMOS issues special logo: “Heritage Supports the Global Goals!”

On the occasion of the UN reviewing progress on heritage protection as part of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, ICOMOS is pleased to issue a special logo and invites all stakeholders to use it in their publicity campaigns during 2018.

This year, the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) will convene the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on July 9-18 under the theme "Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies", reviewing progress on Goals 6 (water), 7 (energy), 11 (cities), 12 (consumption and production), 15 (life on land) and 17 (partnerships).

Target 11.4, under SDG11, is to “strengthen efforts to protect and safeguard the world's cultural and natural heritage” to “make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”.

ICOMOS is actively following the Agenda and providing contributions in various ways, in support of their vision for the recognition and mainstreaming of cultural heritage as a driver and enabler of sustainable development.

The #HLPF2018Heritage Logo is free to download for use by all individuals and organizations working to protect and promote cultural and natural heritage with a sustainable development perspective.
