As the 22nd ICOMOS General Assembly in Kuching marks the conclusion of Teresa Patrício’s presidency, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the first woman President in ICOMOS’s history for her exceptional dedication, leadership and service to our global heritage community.
During her presidency, ICOMOS has strengthened its international voice and influence, advancing the role of cultural heritage in climate action and sustainable development, reinforcing efforts to protect heritage threatened by conflicts and disasters, and further developing its scientific guidance and expertise.
Her tenure has also seen important progress in strengthening our global network, promoting inclusion and international cooperation, and making ICOMOS knowledge more widely accessible, notably through the launch of the new ICOMOS website and the PUBLICOMOS open-access documentation platform.
These achievements are the fruit of a collective effort, supported by Teresa’s commitment to an inclusive, independent and forward-looking ICOMOS.
Thank you, Teresa, for your vision, your tireless commitment and your leadership. You have made history as ICOMOS’s first woman President and leave an important legacy on which our organisation will continue to build.
