In 2024, a call for members went out for the ICOMOS Indigenous Heritage Working Group (IHWG). That Working group has now been established and is already collaboratively working on a forward workplan.

ICOMOS’ work is undertaken by the Indigenous Heritage Working Group (IHWG) under the coordination of two volunteer ICOMOS Focal Points.

The work of the IHWG is a critical aspect of ICOMOS’ ability to meet its mandate of providing guidance on the conservation of cultural heritage and on supporting the implementation of the World Heritage Convention, and also supporting our National Committees through the provision of guidance and promotion of best practice in the conservation of Indigenous heritage.

ICOMOS is seeking candidates to take on these volunteer positions for the period March 2025-December 2027. Indigenous Members of ICOMOS are strongly encouraged to apply.

The candidate’s CV (maximum 2 pages) and motivation letter (maximum 1 page) in English should be sent to secretariat[at]icomos.org by 16 February 2025.
