The 1st Scientific Symposium of the ICOMOS America Group aims to assess the state of cultural heritage conservation in the Americas 60 years after the creation of ICOMOS, and to reflect on the future of the preservation efforts deployed over the past six decades.
Organised by ICOMOS Mexico and ICOMOS USA in collaboration with ICOMOS Colombia and ICOMOS IWC, this meeting will establish how the threats posed to cultural and natural heritage by climate change, social conflicts, and disasters can be sustainably prevented. It will identify and define the challenges and responsibilities of stakeholders for the next 20 years in a document entitled “Charter of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, and San Diego, California, United States.”
The Scientific Symposium is aimed at professionals, experts, managers, students, and the general public. All will be invited to consider different perspectives on the preservation of American heritage through four main themes:
These topics are the focus of a call for abstracts for anyone wishing to participate in the conference to discuss the future of American cultural heritage.
Please send your abstracts before 15 October to the following addresses: presidiencia.mexico@icomos.org; secretariaicomosmex@icomos.org
