Context

Following the public consultations of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), the ICOMOS Europe group formed an Expert Group to follow the implementation of the Directive in European countries and foster the inclusion of the heritage sector and heritage aspects in these processes. These discussions revealed significant differences in the implementation of the EPBD as well the gaps in data necessary for decision making. The working group started to collect and gather evidence on the national practices.

About the webinar on the EPBD Implementation

During this webinar, ICOMOS will present a report featuring examples of good practices, based on evidence from over seventeen EU and non-EU countries focusing on:

  • the state and challenges of the implementation of the EPBD;
  • the challenges on gathering data on historic building stock;
  • the issues of energy efficiency interventions and strategies;
  • the role of maintenance, repair and adaptation as well capacity building and innovation.

With this report, ICOMOS aims to contribute to the debates on the importance of the existing building stock in the ambitions of the European Green Deal and sustainable development.
