ICOMOS depends on the support of members and the generous donations of kind supporters to continue to fulfil its mission of safeguarding our collective cultural heritage. You can choose to support a specific programme that is close to your heart, or make a general donation to ICOMOS and we will put it to use where it is most needed right now.

In 1999, ICOMOS created the Raymond Lemaire Fund to raise money and invest it in the training of the next generation of heritage professionals.
The Raymond Lemaire Fund offers bursaries and establishes arrangements with training organisations to enable emerging heritage professionals around the world to undertake postgraduate study, courses and traineeships in conservation and restoration. The Fund is made up of kind, valued donations by individual ICOMOS members, ICOMOS Belgium and ICOMOS experts.
Professor Raymond Lemaire was a founding member of ICOMOS and believed strongly in the importance of training emerging professionals and welcoming them into the ICOMOS family.
At every General Assembly since 1981, ICOMOS has awarded the Piero Gazzola Prize to a person or group who has worked towards achieving ICOMOS’ objectives with real distinction. The 1999 General Assembly passed Resolution 29, creating an International Fund, named in honour of Raymond Lemaire, to complement the Gazzola Prize with funding for the training of emerging heritage professionals.
In 2008, the resolution was endorsed by the Board of ICOMOS. The Fund was launched during the Forum for Young Professionals at that year’s ICOMOS General Assembly, enabled by the generous support of Raymond Lemaire’s children, amongst others.
Help us to ensure that the next generation of ICOMOS members have access to the best training and qualifications.
