Friends and Colleagues Remember Late Honorary President Michael Petzet

Michael Petzet

Michael Petzet, late Honorary President of ICOMOS who passed away last year on 29 May, is celebrated by his friends and colleagues through a memorial book published by ICOMOS Germany on 18 April.

On 12 April 2020, Michael Petzet would have been 87 years old. ICOMOS Germany took this year's International Day of Monuments and Sites on 18 April as an opportunity to commemorate the long-time President and Honorary President of ICOMOS Germany and ICOMOS International. They collected and compiled a selection of personal obituaries written by his colleagues and friends to pay him a last tribute.

The theme of this year's 18 April - Shared Cultures, Shared Heritage, Shared Responsibility - is the perfect opportunity to highlight his life's work as a monument conservationist and art historian, as the idea of sharing was of very great importance to him.
