ICOMOS and the International Centre for the Interpretation and Presentation of World Heritage Sites (WHIPIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration on joint activities relating to the interpretation and presentation of World Heritage Sites.
On 28 August 2025, Teresa PATRÍCIO, President of ICOMOS, and Changnam HONG, Director General of WHIPIC, signed a MoU aimed at enhancing and developing capacity and knowledge in the interpretation and presentation of World Heritage Sites across various fields of the World Heritage Convention.
In the next five years, both ICOMOS and WHIPIC will focus on the following priority areas of collaboration:
Our goal is to cultivate innovative interpretation methods that resonate with diverse communities and reflect the dynamic nature of cultural heritage. We look forward to collaborating with WHIPIC to develop inclusive, context-sensitive tools and methodologies that support more equitable heritage practices.
Through our cooperation with ICOMOS, WHIPIC will serve as a bridge to extend knowledge and experience on World Heritage to a wider range of heritage sites. We are committed to ensuring that the multifaceted values of World Heritage sites are shared more broadly in participatory and ethical ways.
