International Scientific Committees

The International Scientific Committees bring together professionals from ICOMOS’ worldwide network to work together in their fields. As such, they are at the heart of scientific development and exchange, advancing knowledge and conservation in their different fields. These vital, dynamic groups work through international, interdisciplinary knowledge sharing in order to advance heritage protection and management.
The Presidents of the International Scientific Committees make up the ICOMOS Advisory Committee’s Scientific Council, which advises the Board on technical and scientific matters.

The role and goals of the International Scientific Committees are described in more detail in the Eger-X’ian Principles, a working document adopted by the ICOMOS General Assembly in 2005.
