Vacancy Notice: Communication and Project Assistant


5 month short term contract from mid-August 2013.

 

The Communication and Projects Assistant is responsible, among other, for 

  • working with the Director on the preparation of reports / papers and dossiers in preparation of or resulting from statutory meetings of ICOMOS, and in general on projects and administrative tasks, especially in English.
  • In general - to act as “resource person” in the Secretariat in what concerns administrative support, and to provide support to the National and Scientific Committees in particular with regard to the website (based on JOOMLA).
  • Prepare the "ICOMOS News". Collection of content, editing, translation, layout, liaising with designers etc...
  • Updating and developing the content of the ICOMOS website, in conjunction with the Head of the Documentation Centre and the Projects team.

The candidate must have the following knowledge and skills

  • A University degree preferably in the field of communication, information sciences, culture or social sciences, ideally with a background in cultural heritage (minimum Bachelor degree).
  • Computer literacy and excellent command of the following IT skills and tools: the ability to create and maintain web pages (knowledge of JOOMLA, FTP clients, CSS). Further IT skills in the field of computer and network maintenance, will be considered an added advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge of ICOMOS’ working languages - English and French - and excellent writing and translation skills, especially in English. Knowledge of another ICOMOS official language (Spanish, Russian) or other languages would be an added advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and diplomacy skills. Team spirit, initiative, ability to work independently and to deadlines.
  • 1 or 2 years of work experience.
  • Knowledge of or interest in cultural heritage conservation, art history and related fields is considered an advantage.

5 month short term contract, starting preferably from mid- August 2013 (starting date flexible). If additional funding is obtained, the contract may be prolonged.

French work permit required.
