ICOMOS Contribution in the OWHC 14th World Congress

OWHC Nov2017ICOMOS had the pleasure of participating in the 14th World Congress of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC), held under the theme “Heritage & Communities: Tools to Engage Local Communities” in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea. Held from 29 October to 3 November 2017, the OWHC Congress provided a platform to share and discuss member cities’ innovative and collective actions with the mutual goal of preserving World Heritage Sites.

ICOMOS is pleased to host, as an Advisory Bodies Side Event in the 41st Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee being held in Krakow, Poland, a panel discussing activities of selected international agencies working for cultural and natural heritage related to the implementation of the UN Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on SDG 11.4 and how this work relates to World Heritage, particularly in the context of cities and local governments.
