The International Secretariat has designed an official 50th anniversary logo which must be used by all accredited events in order to ensure a consistent visual identity for this world-wide celebration. ICOMOS Committees may adapt the logo to include the name of their country or Committee.

Please consult the Principles for event patronage (Word document) to ensure that your event is officially accredited by ICOMOS and that you have permission to use the logo. Members must also liaise with their National and International Scientific Committee before making a proposal for an event accreditation to the ICOMOS International Secretariat.

Official website and events agenda

The International Secretariat will maintain a dedicated webpage with the agenda of all scheduled events. Once your event has been granted official ICOMOS patronage, please write to secretariat[at]icomos.org using the format below (please use short sentences to enable a concise presentation) so that we can publicize your event:

EU primary legislation

The organs of the EU have only those competencies which have been attributed to them in the treaties (the principle of attributed powers). The regulatory capacities of the European Union are currently limited to the development of supportive measures:

"…the European Parliament and the Council acting in accordance with the ordinary legislative procedure and after consulting the Committee of the Regions, shall adopt incentive measures, excluding any harmonisation of the laws and regulations of the Member States…"

Article 36 (ex 95) - Treaty on the European Union - This articles opens for Member States to have other rules than those that follow from a directive, where this is necessary to preserve for example national treasures of (amongst others) historic values.
