ICOMOS would like to introduce Mr Gabriel Caballero of ICOMOS Philippines as the new ICOMOS Focal Point for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Mr Caballero will continue to coordinate ICOMOS activities on the SDGs and will serve as main point of contact for the organisation on world heritage and sustainable development concerns.

In line with the UN Decade of Action, and amidst the challenges of Covid-19, Mr Caballero would like to mobilize everyone, everywhere and engage ICOMOS members to contribute to activities, develop ideas, engage with their governments and mobilize communities to show how cultural heritage practices enable the achievement of the SDGs. He believes that mapping knowledge and best practices, and developing relevant indicators showcasing how heritage serves as a driver and enabler of sustainability is key in the next ten years. Establishing valuable partnerships with institutional, academic, technological, financial and non-heritage partners that prioritise people, planet and the richness of cultural life will also be another priority to make the global agenda a success.
