The new Triennial Scientific Plan 2021-2024 – Cultural Heritage and Climate Action

tspIn November 2021, ICOMOS adopted a new Triennial Scientific Plan 2021-24 – Cultural Heritage and Climate Action. This is the first to ambitiously attempt a coordinated effort amongst ALL ICOMOS members and Committees to focus on a single scientific issue.

téléchargement You can download the Triennial Scientific Plan 2021-2024 in English, in French and in Spanish.

The Plan is built on the ICOMOS report The Future of Our Pasts: Engaging Cultural Heritage in Climate Action published in 2019, where ICOMOS had scoped the ways in which cultural heritage can drive climate action, and also catalogued the many impacts of climate change on heritage places and values.

As part of the Triennial Scientific Plan 2021-24 implementation, ICOMOS is now developing a centralised ICOMOS online portal to access heritage and climate change action (CCA) related documentation, guidance, discussions, solutions and building blocks and forums – hosted via the ICOMOS website with content provided through Climate Change and Heritage Working Group (CCHWG).

A membership capacity building program over the triennium is being developed by the CCHWG as a thematic engagement strategy sharing good solutions, methods, examples and case studies through ICOMOS toolkits, webinars and networks.
