ICOMOS joins UNESCO in expressing concern over flash floods in the Old City of Sana’a, Yemen, inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1986, and included on the List of World Heritage in Danger since 2015.

Recent heavy rains have resulted in extensive damage to the city’s infrastructure, homes, and residential areas located along Wadi Sailah, adversely impacting the already vulnerable community and their fragile cultural heritage, which has been damaged by the conflict and a lack of resources, at a time in which the spread of COVID-19 has become of global concern.
