Hotels

US/ICOMOS has reserved a block of rooms at The Latham Hotel, located at 17th and Walnut Streets in Center City Philadelphia. A special group rate for early registrants is available for Symposium attendees until March 5. Other hotel options for the conference are The Inn at Penn, 36th and Sansom Streets (215-222-0200), and The Penn Tower Hotel, 34th Street and Civic Center Boulevard (215-387-8333). Both are located on the University of Pennsylvania campus.

Parking

The hotels listed above all offer parking for their guests.

University of Pennsylvania public parking garages are located at the following locations:

· Northeast corner, 38th and Walnut Streets
· Northwest corner, 38th and Spruce Streets
· Northeast corner, 34th and Chestnut Streets
· Northwest corner, 32nd and Walnut Streets

Parking rates average $9/day. Several non-University lots and garages are also located nearby, including the northwest corner of 34th and Chestnut.

Arriving at Philadelphia International Airport:

The SEPTA R1-Airport Express Train leaves every 30 minutes and stops near the University of Pennsylvania campus at University City Station and 30th Street Station and in Center City Philadelphia at Suburban Station, 16th and JFK Boulevard. The fare is $5 and the ride takes approximately 25 minutes. All taxicabs from the airport to Center City charge a flat rate of $20 and the ride takes about 20 minutes. Travel to the University of Pennsylvania in West Philadelphia costs approximately the same amount. Shuttle vans and limousine services are also available from the airport.

Arriving at Amtrak 30th Street Station:

All Amtrak Northeast Corridor trains and all SEPTA Regional trains stop at 30th Street Station located at 30th and Market Streets. From there one can walk to campus in about 15 minutes. A metered cab costs $4 - $5 and the ride takes about 5 minutes (use the 30th Street, or West entry).

Driving Direction to University of Pennsylvania
From the Northeast: Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 4 for Route 73 North. Proceed on Route 73 North to I-295 South. From I-295 South, take Exit 26 for I-76 West (Schuylkill Expressway). Cross the Walt Whitman Bridge into Philadelphia. Take Exit 40, South Street, which exits on the left. Turn left onto South Street to enter campus.

From the Northwest: Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Exit 24, Valley Forge Interchange. Take I-76 East (Schuylkill Expressway) approximately 17 miles to Exit 40, South Street, which exits on the left. Turn right onto South Street to enter the campus.

From the North: Take I-95 South to I-676 West toward Center City. From I-676 exit in less than 2 miles taking the "exit only" ramp toward the airport marked I-76 East. Proceed less than a mile to Exit 40, South Street, which exits on the left. Turn right onto South Street to enter the campus.

From the South: Take I-95 North to Exit 11 signed "291 West to I-76". Follow 291 West across the Platt Bridge to 26th Street, which leads directly onto I-76 West. Take I-76 West 3 miles to Exit 40, South Street, which exits on the left. Turn left onto South Street to enter the campus.
