The Graduate Program in Historic Preservation at Clemson University/Charleston is a new partner of US/ICOMOS, being both an Institutional Member and a new host for the US/ICOMOS International Exchange Program. Jonathan Poston, Interim Director of the Clemson University/Charleston program, also serves on the US/ICOMOS Board of Trustees. He is the former Director of Preservation and Museum Services for the Historic Charleston Foundation. This graduate program is a collaborative venture between Clemson University and the College of Charleston's Program in Historic Preservation, which is also an Institutional Member of US/ICOMOS. The graduate program is situated in Small Hall in the main quad of the College of Charleston and contains both a large studio and a conservation laboratory. Graduate courses are taught by Mr. Poston, Ashley Robbins (also of Oehrlein Associates in Washington, DC), faculty from the College of Charleston, staff of the Historic Charleston Foundation, and other notable preservationists and conservationists in Charleston. |

Jonathan Poston recently hosted a reception for the Clemson University/Charleston US/ICOMOS Intern (Jeanwha Song of Korea) and the Historic Charleston Foundation's US/ICOMOS Intern (Mariana Isa of Malaysia), as well as other summer interns from both organizations. Ashley Robbins is supervising the two US/ICOMOS International Interns as they conduct research on and document Magnolia Cemetery, located in North Charleston and one of the earliest garden cemeteries in the United States. US/ICOMOS looks forward to expanding our relationship with the Clemson University/Charleston's Graduate Program in Historic Preservation. As a new host of US/ICOMOS International Interns, second-year graduate students from the Clemson University/Charleston program are eligible for a US/ICOMOS International Internship. In 2007, Kate Stojsavljevic was selected as the Clemson University/Charleston intern - in the fall of this year Kate will travel to India to work with the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH).
