Washington, DC, USA

Yiqing Yan prepared a cultural landscape inventory of Farragut Square in Washington, DC for the National Capital Region of the National Park Service.  Farragut Square is located in Northwest Washington, DC and is one of the original "reservations" laid out in L'Enfant's original plan for the new capital city.  Farragut Square is located at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and K Street, about two blocks north of the White House.

With assistance from her colleauges in the Cultural Landscapes Inventory program, Yiqing collected reference material, surveyed and took photos of the site, and wrote a report.  She also entered this information into the Cultural Landscapes Automated Inventory Management System (CLAIMS) database.

"This program was a great inspiration...and I hope I will go further in combining landscape architecture and historic preservation and make it my future research area in China."
