Tom Gibney's internship involved the development of a conceptual revitalization plan the English House at Muzakowski Park. The park, noted for its early 19th-century landscape design, straddles the border between Poland and Germany.  On the Polish side, the park had fallen into disrepair but is undergoing extensive rehabilitation and renovation.

The English House was an important part of the original concept for the park and was constructed in 1820 as one of the first park structures on the eastern side of the Neisse River.  Tom's conceptual plan incorporated not just the building, but also the ancillary buildings, surrounding plantings, and circulation routes that encompass this area of the park.

"I was frequently reminded how important it is for people of different backgrounds to respect each other's culture and to work together....  Muzakowski Park is another example.  Today, Polish and German officials cooperate in the management of its resources, and its future is brightening."
