INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL TOURISM CHARTER
MANAGING TOURISM AT PLACES OF HERITAGE SIGNIFICANCE
The revised Charter on Cultural Tourism was adopted by ICOMOS at the XII General Assembly in Guadalajara, Mexico, on 22 October 1999. English, French and Spanish translations of the Charter can be found at this website.
The process to revise the original Charter took place over a three-year period with the involvement and participation of the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Cultural Tourism, ICOMOS National Committees, other ICOMOS International Scientific Committees, and additional international and national organizations. Following its adoption, the ISC on Cultural Tourism will seek endorsement of the Charter's Principles by other international organizations, especially those related to the travel industry.
