Willem Willems is Dean of the Faculty of Archaeology at Leiden University, where he holds the chair of Professor of international archaeological heritage management. He was Chief Inspector for Archaeology of the Netherlands and Director of the State Archaeological Service. Willem has been a member of the Committee of the Council of Europe that drafted the Valletta Convention, served as President of the European Association of Archaeologists and was the founding president of the Europae Archaelogiae Consilium.
