Marni Blake Walter

Marni Blake Walter is a consulting archaeologist (RPA) and editor based in the northeastern United States. She currently works on cultural resource assessments and mitigation projects within New England. She holds an M.A. and Ph.D. from Boston University in archaeology, specializing in heritage management. Her dissertation focused on the UNESCO World Heritage Convention and the conflicts between international and local demands placed on archaeological World Heritage sites.

Marni received a B.A. in professional writing from Carnegie Mellon University, and has served as the editor of the American Journal of Archaeology and the Archaeological Institute of America’s book publishing program. She also served as a Journal Fellow of the Journal of Field Archaeology.

Marni’s research interests include the archaeology of New England and of the Indus Valley civilization in South Asia, the preservation of archaeological sites locally and internationally, and archaeological publication and outreach.
