What? An exhibition entitled "World Heritage archaeological sites". This exhibition consists of 20 posters, designed to increase awareness and responsibility for archaeological heritage. A special poster highlights the criteria for inscription on the World Heritage List. The exhibition will be inaugurated in the presence of Mayor of Yerevan, law officials and the embassies concerned.

The 2012 Heritage Address will be held on Wednesday 18 April and features Emeritus Professor of History Graeme Davison AO speaking on ‘Heritage in a Modern Society’.
Graeme Davison has taught at the University of Melbourne, Harvard University (where he was Visiting Professor of Australian Studies) and at Monash University. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and the Academy of the Humanities and an Adjunct Professor in the Research School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University.
He has been active as an advisor to heritage bodies, museums and in other fields of public history where his publications include A Heritage Handbook and The Use and Abuse of Australian History. His current projects include a collaborative history of the Powerhouse Museum and a history of suburban Australia.
The address is free, but bookings are essential.

The Landesdenkmalamt Berlin and co-organizers invite the public to attend the Berlin Monument Day on 17th of April under the title "City under electricity - the heritage of the Elektropolis Berlin". The conference is dedicated to most significant examples of the built and urban legacy from the industrial age, such as Walter Behrens AEG-Turbinenhalle and Siemensstadt, and will discuss World Heritage potential of Berlin's industrial heritage.

Who? The National Commission For Museums and Monuments Owerri celebrated this years 2012 international Day for Monuments and sites with in a Style.
What? The day was marked with a lecture delivered by Mr Adindu E.A a conservator II with the commission. The lecture aimed at sensitizing the staffs on the role of local communities in the management and protection of sites. The curator National Museum owerri Chioba Francisca Uboh gave a brief expository address stressing the need for the significance of the celebration.

What? This year being the 40th Anniversary of the World Heritage Convention ICOMOS has announced 'World Heritage Sites' as the theme around which the 18th April celebrations are being planned all around the world. The two World Heritage Sites of Sindh (Makli Hills Thatta and Mohenjodaro) will remain open with 'FREE ENTRY' throughout the day. A lecture/ presentation by experts who have worked on these two sites is planned at the National Museum on the 18 April.

Icomos Seychelles is pleased to announce the launching of the Icomos Seychelles Heritage Award on the occasion of the International Day for Monuments and Sites
When? On the 18th April 2012.
The award is planned to be made on an annual basis in recognition of built and architectural projects which serve to conserve and enhance Seychelles built heritage and its cultural landscape.Icomos Seychelles is working with the support of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB)on the award and hopes to attract other partners in its organisation.
A copy of the press release which will be published in local newspapers on the 18th April is attached. Icomos Seychelles will be thankful for any input or contribution especially from members of the International Cultural Tourism Committee with experience of similar heritage awards. What? Third ICOMOS TURKEY WORLD HERITAGE SITES MONITORING MEETING with the participation of the members of the National Committee and other national experts. This meeting was also associated with the celebration of the 18th April "International Day of Monuments and Sites" under the theme designated as World Heritage for this year. The morning session involved briefings about the inscription and management processes of the site, and it was followed by a site visit in order to monitor the current state of the site and evaluate the potential impacts of the projects proposed.

In addition to the monitoring meetings, the ICOMOS National Committee of Turkey designed a poster based on the theme of "World Heritage Sites" in order to raise awareness among young generations who will be responsible for the safeguarding of our cultural heritage in the future. It is aimed that these posters will be distributed in 3500 primary schools located in Istanbul with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Governorship, and will contribute to the introduction of cultural and natural properties inscribed on the World Heritage List and the explaination of the significance and context of this day.
