Le centre de documentation de l’ICOMOS est spécialisé dans la restauration et la conservation du patrimoine culturel immobilier (patrimoine bâti, monuments et sites historiques). Le fonds documentaire comporte aujourd’hui :

• 16 500 titres à partir desquels 38 500 références bibliographiques ont été indexées, et concernant la plupart des pays du monde
• Plus de 400 périodiques régulièrement reçus par échange
• 30 000 diapositives, photos et plans
• Les dossiers d'inscription originaux des biens de la liste du Patrimoine Mondial de l'UNESCO.

Le thème des célébrations 2012 est « le Patrimoine mondial »

 « Le patrimoine est l’héritage du passé dont nous profitons aujourd’hui et que nous transmettons aux générations à venir. Nos patrimoines culturel et naturel sont deux sources irremplaçables de vie et d’inspiration. Des lieux aussi extraordinaires et divers que les étendues sauvages du parc national de Serengeti en Afrique orientale, les Pyramides d’Egypte, la Grande Barrière d’Australie et les cathédrales baroques d’Amérique latine constituent le patrimoine de notre monde.

Ce qui rend exceptionnel le concept de patrimoine mondial est son application universelle. Les sites du patrimoine mondial appartiennent à tous les peuples du monde, sans tenir compte du territoire sur lequel ils sont situés.

L’Organisation des Nations Unies pour l’éducation, la science et la culture (UNESCO) encourage l’identification, la protection et la préservation du patrimoine culturel et naturel à travers le monde considéré comme ayant une valeur exceptionnelle pour l’humanité. Cela fait l’objet d’un traité international intitulé Convention concernant la protection du patrimoine mondial, culturel et naturel , adopté par l’UNESCO en 1972. »

The Landesdenkmalamt Berlin and co-organizers invite the public to attend the Berlin Monument Day on 17th of April under the title "City under electricity - the heritage of the Elektropolis Berlin". The conference is dedicated to most significant examples of the built and urban legacy from the industrial age, such as Walter Behrens AEG-Turbinenhalle and Siemensstadt, and will discuss World Heritage potential of Berlin's industrial heritage.

Cette exposition, composée de 20 posters, a a pour but d'accroître la vigilance et la responsabilité à l'égard du patrimoine archéologique. Un poster spécial met en lumière les critères d’inscription sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial. L’exposition sera inaugurée en présence du maire de la ville d’Erévan, des officiers ministériels ainsi que des ambassades consernées.

Qui ? The 2012 Heritage Address will be held on Wednesday 18 April and features Emeritus Professor of History Graeme Davison AO speaking on ‘Heritage in a Modern Society’.
Graeme Davison has taught at the University of Melbourne, Harvard University (where he was Visiting Professor of Australian Studies) and at Monash University. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and the Academy of the Humanities and an Adjunct Professor in the Research School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University.
He has been active as an advisor to heritage bodies, museums and in other fields of public history where his publications include A Heritage Handbook and The Use and Abuse of Australian History. His current projects include a collaborative history of the Powerhouse Museum and a history of suburban Australia.

The address is free, but bookings are essential.

Who? State Administration of Cultural Heritage (SACH) and Wuxi Municipal People’s Government, co-organized by ICOMOS China
When? April 10th—11th, 2012
What? “Wuxi Forum on Chinese Cultural Heritage Conservation - World Heritage?Sustainable Development”

Some 100 participants from world cultural heritage sites in China and provincial cultural heritage administrations, as well as experts from international organizations, such as Mr. Grellan Rourke, Chairman of ICCROM Council and Executive Committee Member of ICOMOS, Mr. Mounir Bouchenaki, Special Consultant of UNESCO, former DG of ICCROM and Mr. Guo Zhan, Vice President of ICOMOS, many leading Chinese experts, attended the forum. Presentations covered a wide array of themes including management, monitoring, heritage and economy, empowering local communities. The Forum was concluded with the adoption of Wuxi Proposal. Site visits were made before and after the Forum.
The Photo exhibition entitled Chinese World Heritage goes into Community was also held with the Forum.

Through discussion between Chinese and foreign peers, the monitoring and management issues of cultural routes such as the Silk Road will be discussed. Representatives from the provincial cultural heritage administrations along the Chinese section of the Silk Road will also participate in the seminar. Visitation of sites of the Silk Roads at Xi’an will be held.

What? The day was marked with a lecture delivered by Mr Adindu E.A a conservator II with the commission. The lecture aimed at sensitizing the staffs on the role of local communities in the management and protection of sites. The curator National Museum owerri Chioba Francisca Uboh gave a brief expository address stressing the need for the significance of the celebration.

Quoi ? This year being the 40th Anniversary of the World Heritage Convention ICOMOS has announced 'World Heritage Sites' as the theme around which the 18th April celebrations are being planned all around the world. The two World Heritage Sites of Sindh (Makli Hills Thatta and Mohenjodaro) will remain open with 'FREE ENTRY' throughout the day. A lecture/ presentation by experts who have worked on these two sites is planned at the National Museum on the 18 April.

Icomos Seychelles is pleased to announce the launching of the Icomos Seychelles Heritage Award on the occasion of the International Day for Monuments and Sites
Quand ? On the 18th April 2012.
The award is planned to be made on an annual basis in recognition of built and architectural projects which serve to conserve and enhance Seychelles built heritage and its cultural landscape.Icomos Seychelles is working with the support of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB)on the award and hopes to attract other partners in its organisation.
A copy of the press release which will be published in local newspapers on the 18th April is attached. Icomos Seychelles will be thankful for any input or contribution especially from members of the International Cultural Tourism Committee with experience of similar heritage awards. In addition to the monitoring meetings, the ICOMOS National Committee of Turkey designed a poster based on the theme of "World Heritage Sites" in order to raise awareness among young generations who will be responsible for the safeguarding of our cultural heritage in the future. It is aimed that these posters will be distributed in 3500 primary schools located in Istanbul with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Governorship, and will contribute to the introduction of cultural and natural properties inscribed on the World Heritage List and the explaination of the significance and context of this day.
