Proposed amendments to the Statutes of ICOMOS

Deadline: 31 January 2014

As already announced in ICOMOS e-News n°94 (6 December 2014), all ICOMOS members are invited to participate in the last steps of the current process to update the ICOMOS Statutes, which are the constitution of our organisation. This process was presented at the recent meetings of the Advisory and Executive Committees in San Jose, Costa Rica, last October. Comments are expected by 31 January 2014 and we invite you to contribute.

Call for papers: Heritage and Landscape as Human Values

Deadline: 31 January 2014

We remind you that the deadline for submitting abstracts for the Scientific Symposium which will take place in Florence, Italy, on the occasion of the 18th ICOMOS General Assembly, from 10 to 14 November 2014, on the theme: "Heritage and Landscape as Human Values" is 31 January 2014. Nara Document: online survey

Deadline: 25 January 2014

The year 2014 marks the 20th anniversary of the Nara Document on Authenticity.

Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs is planning a conference to celebrate this anniversary in October 2014. ICOMOS Japan will cooperate with the Agency on this event. A special event on the Nara Document will also be held during the 18th General Assembly of ICOMOS in Florence.

As an important preparatory step toward these meetings in 2014, an online survey on the Nara Document has been created in four languages. It can be accessed by clicking on this link

The survey submission deadline is 25 January 2014.

ICOMOS debate on permissibility and standards for reconstructions of monuments and sites - online survey

Deadline: 28 February 2014

The Advisory Committee has tasked the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Interpretation and Presentation (ICIP) with the responsibility of carrying forward a debate within ICOMOS regarding the place of architectural or archeological reconstructions in current heritage practice.

For this purpose, all ICOMOS members are invited to contribute to an online survey so that data can be gathered from the entire ICOMOS community. Results will be analysed by ICIP in collaboration with the ICOMOS International Scientific Committees, CIPA (Heritage Documentation), and THEOPHILOS (Theory and Philosophy).

The survey submission deadline is 28 February 2014.
