Statement of Principles on Global Cross Sectoral Digitisation Initiatives

ICOMOS is pleased to join with ICA, IFLA, CCAAA, ICOM and ICSTI in adopting the CDNL recommendations of Principles on Global Cross Sectoral Digitisation Initiatives. This long-term vision statement stresses the development of globally distributed digital collections.

These collections should be comprehensive, open, seamlessly-connected, and universally accessible on the Internet. They also should give ready access to digital materials in the collections of all the cultural heritage institutions of the world and in private collections, in the interests of scholarly research, education and lifelong learning, innovation and economic development, and the promotion of international understanding.
