Implementation of a National Cultural Heritage Inventory in DRC | Phase II
Following the work initiated through a capacity-building workshop in 2022 in Kinshasa and Kongo Central, ICOMOS is implementing the second phase of the national cultural heritage inventory in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). ICOMOS President Teresa PATRÍCIO; legal advisor on cultural heritage Bély NIANGAO (ICLAFI/Burkina Faso) and cultural heritage inventory expert Boussad AICHE (Algeria), attended the first mission which took place from 24-30 March 2024 in Kinshasa, DRC.
Joint UNESCO/ICOMOS mission to help support the rehabilitation of Chernihiv's historic centre
From 18-22 March 2024, a UNESCO/ICOMOS mission to Chernihiv on Guidance for Developing a Rehabilitation Plan for the Historic Center of Chernihiv and Methodology for Emergency Preparedness Plans was held in Chernihiv, Ukraine.
ICOMOS sent 5 international experts onsite to help with the rehabilitation and methodology.
Apply to the ICOMOS Culture-Nature Prize by 31 May
ICOMOS is launching the 2nd edition of the ICOMOS Culture-Nature Prize, which will be awarded to support the most promising Culture-Nature initiatives undertaken by ICOMOS members. The 2024 edition is funded by funded by Giving Tuesday donations received in 2022.
ICOMOS Indigenous Heritage Working Group – Call for members
Following the unanimous approval of a resolution to develop practices to better understand and conserve indigenous cultural heritage by the ICOMOS General Assembly in Delhi in December 2017, an ad hoc committee of members from various ICOMOS National Committees and International Scientific Committees initiated the steps leading to the creation of the ICOMOS Indigenous Heritage Working Group (IHWG). The Working Group is now launching a call for members.
