Scientific CIPA Heritage
Documentation CIPA Heritage Documentation, formerly The International Committee for Architectural Photogrammetry (CIPA), was established in collaboration with ISPRS (International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing). ICAHM - Archaeological
Heritage Management ICAHM was established in 1990 to promote international cooperation in the field of archaeological heritage management and to advise ICOMOS on archaeological heritage management issues. ICAHM provides a forum for the interchange of knowledge and research among archaeologists, other professionals, and decision makers involved in the management of archaeological resources. ICAHM has an elected executive; a representative nationally endorsed voting membership, sufficient honorary and associate members to provide a broad and active base of expertise; a track record of convening annual regional meetings; an up-to-date web site; and, specific tasks or purposes that reflect the concerns of the membership. ICAHM has various
working groups that reflect the needs of the membership as well as the
pressures, condition and responses required by ICAHM. The following are

Heritage International Committee for Vernacular Architecture (CIAV) was created in 1976. The object of the committee is to promote co-operation in the identification, study, protection and conservation of Vernacular Architecture. Australian ISC Representative

Towns & Villages The International Committee on Historic Towns and Villages (CIVVIH) was established in 1982. The Committee deals with questions relevant to the planning and management of historic towns and villages. Its membership is made of experts who have different professional backgrounds related to historic town preservation. Cultural Heritage ICUCH was established as an ICOMOS committee in 1991 to promote international cooperation in the protection and management of underwater cultural heritage management and to advise ICOMOS on underwater cultural heritage issues. ICUCH assisted in the drafting of the UNESCO convention for the protection of the underwater cultural heritage (2001) and continues to lobby for its ratification. ICUCH also provides a forum for debate and information exchange among maritime archaeologists, other professionals, and decision makers involved in the management of underwater cultural heritage. (s): David Young CIF - Training The ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Training has as its objective is to promote, consistent with the aims of ICOMOS, international cooperation in the identification, study and solution of legal, administrative and financial issues in connection with the protection, maintenance and conservation of monuments, groups of buildings and site. The ISC Chair is currently held in an interim capacity by Carlo Cesari, European Centre for Trades and Professions for the Conservation of Architectural Heritage, centrove@tin.it. (s): Prof W Logan Historic Gardens & Cultural Landscapes/IFLA The ISC is in partnership with the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA). The aims of the Committee are to promote research, conservation, restoration, knowledge and its dissemination of historic gardens, cultural landscapes and historic monuments on universal, international, national and regional levels. The preservation and protection of this heritage, independent of its maintenance for public enlightenment, is aimed in particular at providing living examples of different areas or styles throughout time and space for the development of the landscape and the physical environment. The President of the ISC is Robert de Jong and secretariat is run by Marie-Jeanne Geerts. The last meeting of the ISC was in Bad Muskau 29 September 2003. Future meetings have been proposed for Paris 2004, Scandinavia 2005 and USA 2006. At the ISC meetings there are reports on Heritage at Risk and individual country representative report on particular national projects. The ISC is establishing regional working groups. Mr Hans Dorn was appointed to establish the Asia-Pacific Group (an Asian Centre). The Australia ICOMOS
working group provides information on reports to the ISC and to the Australia

Polar Heritage Committee/IPHC The IPHC was established
in Mexico 1999 to protect and conserve the vast number of sites in the
polar regions of both the Artic and Antarctica which contain valuable
